Review:

This book is an inclusive reader-friendly introduction to differential equations. The concept is demonstrated by a great number of fine examples, applications, and figures. The book under analysis is proposed for a 1st or 2nd semester graduate course in ordinary differential equations. A novel aspect of the book is the amalgamation of Maple into the presentation. This well-structured book provides an application-minded mentor great mobility in designing a course. All the essential theory is comprised, along with wide range of examples from physics and engineering.
This book is one of the few graduate differential equations writings that use the computer to develop the theories and concept normally taught to 1st – and 2nd -year graduate students in mathematics. The writer gives a complete introduction to the theory of ordinary differential equations with an emphasis on mechanics and dynamical systems. The material is structured so that it can be also used in a broader setting within today’s modern universities and institutions. The book makes every effort to merge together the customary theoretical material on differential equations and the new methods afforded by computer algebra systems. This book is systematized to be used for interdisciplinary courses in applied math, physics, and engineering. The book is well written and provides many interesting examples. The author gives a broad overview to the concept on ordinary D.E with a focus on mechanics and dynamical systems. The explanation is strong and easily understood.

This is a very readable text that is enriched with good supporting figures. Particularly prominent are hand-drawn figures imitated to look like blackboard sketches. The proofs throughout the book are mostly in depth. There are also well-designed exercises for every section in the text.
Overall, this is quite a good graduate level textbook on ordinary differential equations. Its best part is attractively illustrating geometric ideas with good graphics. I can cordially recommend the book for graduate students of mathematics, physic students and also students in applied sciences. Lastly, I would like to reassure students, their lecturers and scholars to do computer experiments for refining their study, teaching and scientific work. This book has lots to recommend it.
