A nice and optimistic novel, despite what you might think from the beginning, since the main protagonist, a schoolgirl of 14, was raped and murdered in the first few pages.
The young Susie is then admitted to Paradise, which is a bit boring place, bland and sanitized, where one is always compatible with the desires of the people; and where one has everything one really wants dice we really want (and what could be more boring?). That leaves him plenty of time to observe everything that happens on Earth from up there. She looks at how his family is struggling with his grief and tears after his loss; how his school marks the spot of his death before resuming gradually his train everyday life; how his murderer quietly mask his tracks before planning the rape and murder of his next child victim; how the police investigation and tries to find the murderer; how her little sister and little brother grow and change. In short, it observes the life that continues.
Since his paradise, she can see anywhere, anyone. She gradually discovers the secrets of each and includes a lot of things that were hidden in his lifetime. She can not act up there, but she can see the world as a giant goldfish bowl in front of her.
The novel is a little too long for its own good, in the second half, some family adventures with family and friends are a little too exciting ideas for everyday, but auteuse saves the novel with an unexpected fantastic scene to the end (the only fantastic scene of the novel) and a wrap-up quite satisfactory though somewhat easy (in which everyone finds what he wants and where all is well that ends well, except of course for the murderer who it ends badly).
