Reviews

Like the zombies of his creation, Robert Kirkman seems never to tire himself. After a hundred episodes of The Walking Dead Comics version, supervision and some scenarios for the series Tv, here our writer tackles a prequel Romance version.

This is to describe the transformation of Philip Blake brave family father into the ultimate bastard that any TWD reader has learned to hate. It must be said that its appearance in the 3 volumes of TWD will leave traces (of blood) and its disproportionate sadism will have decimated 3/4 of the distribution of the series.
Even today, our hero Rick Grimes bears the stigma of his meeting with the governor responsible for his amputation and the death of his family.
The company of telling the story of this swelling was therefore pretty well seen even if the risk of seeing the talent of Kirkman scatter is real.
Because this novel of 350 pages shows that a good screenwriter of the stamp of Kirkman is not necessarily a good novelist.

One finds all that makes the charm of the series: immediately identifiable characters with strong characteristics, good dialogues and very good cliffhangers of which a blow of theater hardly believable at the end.

The parallel between Philip and Rick, his future victim, is interesting to establish. They have a lot in common: men of incredible moral strength ready to do anything to protect their child from the horror of a world where the dead come back to life. The surprise is great in this respect. Here our villain appears in a favorable light: courageous, loving father, considerate towards his friends and incredibly gifted for his survival and that of his community. As the narrative progresses, the reader wonders what might have happened so that Philip tilted to the dark side. It is the great strength of the Kirkman series that to put ordinary characters in extraordinary situations where their choice will determine the evolution of their personality. In this, the quotation from Nietzche
At page 133 is perfectly appropriate in view of what our characters are going through: “He who fights against monsters must be careful not to become a monster himself.”
